What “difficult access” actually means here
The drive
Steep, shared, battle-axe or ending in a tight close. We settle where the truck stands before the day, because a truck standing in the wrong place taxes every single carry after it.
The carry
Truck to door, door to room, and every half-flight between. We walk the route first, protect the pinch points, and set the load order so the heavy pieces move while legs are freshest.
The house itself
Split-levels hide half their volume: under-house storage, garage benches, the pool-table room two half-flights down. We ask about all of it up front, so the truck that arrives is the truck the job needs.
How the day runs
- Before the day: the callback walks the access with you: drive, carry, stairs, storage, anything oversized. If you built a Carry Plan, we start from it.
- On arrival: the crew walks the carry route before anything lifts. Doorframes, banisters and floors are protected where the route needs it.
- Loading: wrapped, stacked and strapped in an order that suits the house at the other end, not just the truck.
- At the new place: every carton and piece lands in the room it belongs in. The day ends at final placement, not at the kerb.
A four-bedroom split-level on a battle-axe drive is not a harder customer. It is just a job with more plan in it, and the plan is free.
The crew that fits
A 2–3 bedroom house usually runs with 3 movers and a truck at $350 an hour. Large homes, four bedrooms and up, run with 4 movers and two trucks at $500 an hour. Where a long carry or a full split-level slows the shuttle, a bigger crew often costs less overall because the hours drop; we will give you the straight maths on the call, not a sales pitch.
